I’ve worked with Qkids for a few years. I’m on my 4th contract. They have a pretty good cancellation policy and overall are a fair company. My only complaint is that having 4 kids in the lesson, which is usually the case, can be exhausting. There are often kids with background noise, bad mic, so on… Balancing it all and making sure all 4 stds are participating well means your multitasking has to be ‘dialed up to 10’. Since the pandemic started many teachers have only a few lessons each week and some have no lessons at all. Yet, Q keeps hiring. So, really, like many online companies, if you can really ‘bring it’ to the lessons, you’ll do OK with bookings. Parents give feedback and rate. There is clearly a connection between feedback and number of bookings, though how some teachers get fully booked and others do not isn’t transparent. Overall, you can’t go wrong with applying to Qkids. But you may also need to work with other companies and not count on Q.

So sorry, I was not notified of the reply to my post like I thought. To answer your question, you let Q-kids know what hours you are available to work (minimum 12 classes) and they book the classes for you accordingly; not the parents.
Also, for an update after a year working for Q-kids, I am still happy with the company. They do not penalize you for an unexpected missed class or if you have a technical issue (both of which happened to me). Also, they except days off if needed. The platform added a timer to the home page which helps to log in 3 minutes before class, plus the class objectives are posted clearly there too; to prepare you for what you are to teach. The company is currently implementing new (optional) zoom meetings to assist in improving and sharing teaching techniques that I find helpful. The bookings are still not predictable. I was only doing mornings (2hrs- 2.5 hrs now) for 9 months and only started evenings beginning in June. I kept track for a year and made over $15,000, even with all the ups and downs in bookings (Nov. and May – lowest; Mar. and Aug. -highest). So, it’s still a nice chunk of change for a non-stressful, no car wear-and-tear, have-a-life, kind of job!

I have been working with Q-Kids for about 3 months now and it is a wonderful company to work for! The students have some English knowledge before entering the classes and are well behaved. Within one class there can be anywhere from one to four students. One of the best things is that the lessons are pre-made making the pay authentic for your time. I simply log onto my computer, check my network, sound, and audio connections are working, and then upload my class. Once the lesson is taught, I log out of the class and that’s it; I am done. The classes are scheduled by the Q-Kids staff and are scheduled weekly. I just need to be in front of my computer at the scheduled times. The staff is readily available to help if any issues occur. The only thing I wish I could change is the number of classes scheduled. But again, getting paid (avg $20 per hour) for the time I actually work is worth it to me. Q-Kids is especially kind to first-time online teachers (as I was one of them). After contemplating which online teaching site to try, I’m glad I chose this one. I got hired by meeting Q-Kids requirements and using a referral code. Here is my referral code if you need one: FOJDVH
BTW: When leaving the review, I clicked on the box that says “Notify me of new posts” so hopefully, I can try to answer any questions that you may have.

Hi Diane, are you still working with QKids? Are you happy with them? I work for GoGoKid and am looking to work for a second company. Do you make your own schedule or does the company? Also do they book you or do the parents choose you? Please let me know. Thanks, dianabethr@yahoo.com

I also loved working for this company but due to my move to Europe I had to quit!! Otherwise it was a very pleasant experience.

I inquired about working for QKids and they said you must physically live in Canada or the US to be hired. I am Canadian and have a Canadian bank account, but because I live in New Zealand they can’t hire me.

Hi if anyone needs more information for this company, let me know. I have been working there for almost a year and I loved them. I previously worked for other companies such as Tutorabc or sayabc but Qkids has far been the best. They’re software is fun and easy, the kids are well behaved and adorable. I make 20 per hour. The staff is kind and friendly, they are always available for whatever you need. The atmosphere is very relaxing. The only thing I could complain about is that they only offered 28 classes in the mornings (or 14 hours) and 10 extra classes in on weekend evenings. I wish they had more. Maybe in the future. They also offere camps in China that you can attend, if you’re lucky and you get picked, of course!
Be aware that you must live in the USA or Canada or have a bank account there and very good internet, depending on where you are.

      Hi Lizzy,
I would love to know more about Qkids. I am just beginning my search for an online teaching company. I have heard a few good things about this company, but my concern also is about the lack of hours. If you would like to contact me, my email address is teachkorea2012@gmail.com.

      Thanks,
      Nadine
