I am currently working for them. In my opinion is much different. I find them, to be very professional and is actually a much bigger company than I originally thought. This is my 5th year working for them, and I really do love it. Yes, the application process is a bit of a drag and the training before you can start is very long and intensive, there are a lot of processes they take you through and have a very specific way of doing things. You have quarterly feedback sessions too, which can sometimes be a little stressful. However, I have found them very supportive and they provide ongoing training in areas where you struggle. You also have a team manager who is available on Teams throughout the day and 27/7 online IT support who is always friendly and willing to assist.

The students are really amazing and willing to learn. They tell you about themselves and their jobs and I have come to really enjoy the lessons with most of the learners. You will however, be required to teach Pre-A1 level students at times, which honestly, does make it hard, since they can barely say anything in English. They do provide bilingual training though, but I get the impression that the demand is too high and there are not enough bilingual trainers available.

The only real drawback of the company, is that the pay is pretty low. I have been there for all these years, with very high ratings and never once got compensated for this. The pay has been the same since I started, which I feel is a little unfair, since they really do require the trainers to work hard. They did implement a bonus structure now, but honestly speaking, the requirements are very high and I can’t see myself reaching this.

Apart from this, I really have no complaints about them and I have been enjoying teaching here. I have come to really know some learners well, and that has made the job worth-it for me.

They wrote me today that they are not currently hiring from the U.S. (they are based in the Philippines). I applied for a business English position.

The pay is 8 euros per hour (not 10 or 12). 4 euros for 30-minute classes and 6 euros for 45-minute classes. They never give raises, regardless of how long you’ve worked for them.

These guys are a waste of time. You must answer a bunch of silly application questions, which in my humble view are not even well crafted. They pretend to be very serious and professional, but they certainly don’t act in a professional manner.
I jumped through all their silly hoops and at each stage of their “process” they took ages to answer – even up to several weeks.
Weeks and weeks later I had already forgotten about them when they messaged me and asked me yet more pathetic questions. By this time I was bored with them but I answered more of their questions anyway, as I thought that the teaching sounded interesting (teaching adults instead of kids!)

A few weeks more passed by and I had forgotten about them again, when they finally said that they “may” be able to offer me some classes in the near future.(At a time slot which I made VERY CLEAR in my application that I would not be able to commit to).

Personally I would not want to work for an outfit such as that. (It would be like having a very immature and temperamental girlfriend !)
I have great patience with students who are there to learn, but “GoFluent” seem to just be interested in wasting your time.

Of course, they expect you to be very professional YOURSELF, yet they act like spoilt kids doing exactly as they please. In my view this must be a reflection of their arrogance and their lack of professional attitude.
Working on-line is supposed to make things easier. Instead, they just create more hassles.
They clearly think that they are God’s great gift to the on-line ESL industry. I doubt that very much.
