Comments and Reviews for Eigox
Eigox is a company from Japan. They want part-time native speaking teachers from the USA, UK, Canada, Australia or New Zealand. They teach both conversational and textbook English. They currently pay 600 yen or about $5.50 for every 25 minute class. However in February 2018 they are changing the entire system and teachers can set their own rates between 600 – 1200 YEN ($5.50 – $11.00 USD) per 25 minute lesson, based on their work performance. Payment is made with Paypal.

Eigox is a great company to work for. The staff is helpful and friendly and get back to you immediately when you need assistance with anything. I have just stated and get about 2-5 bookings a day weekends are great and can get fully booked on a Saturday and Sunday. The pay is not the best but it is very flexible and great to fill your slots when you have them open.
I have absolutely no problems with them.

Easy to book, Students are few.

They con you at the start by making you do 10 lessons at half price. When that’s out the way, you’ll find there are suddenly no students. Because they continuously recruit more teachers who of course are still in their ‘probation period’ and offering lessons at half price… I also noticed some teachers continue on at the half-price rate which undercuts everybody else ( though I don’t know why anybody in their right mind would teach for 300 yen/lesson!!! ) As for the students themselves, they are mostly good but there are some nasty ones too who will give you bad ratings and comments. Eigox won’t remove those comments which may then spoil your chances. Their new system ( that promised to allow more control over teachers’ pay ) actually doesn’t allow teachers to set their own pay rates. It was just a makeover. And one-year late in arriving. We’re no better off.

Guys, this is just like Bibo (working for them for over 2 years, not bad if you want some extra money, but don’t expect to earn a lot and some of the students are… to put it mildly terrible, and the staff only care about the students, not too much about teachers), and maybe even worse, low pay and way too many rules that are extremely strict especially for the amount of money that you get.

They only pay 160 yen per 25 minutes for non-native teachers. If you are “good” you can set your own rates between 160 and 600 yen per 25-minute lesson.
This company is a joke.

Not a lot of students. As a new teacher you will get about 2 to 3 bookings a week. If you cant make it to the booked lesson and even inform 2 days in advance due to an emergency. You have to pay 100% of your earnings. Can you believe?!

I’ve worked for Eigox for over two years and the experience has been very positive. The staff are unfailingly helpful and the administrative burden is low. Tutors have a great deal of control over schedules and it all runs smoothly.

Love, love, love working for Eigox. The student’s are fantastic and the office staff are extremely reliable. Perfect for people who have no online experience. The pay might not be as good as other companies but they treat you with respect 🙂 Not evil at all!!

I have been working for Eigox for over a year now and I must say that the staff at are not evil at all, in fact they are very friendly and helpful. I think that this guy, Paul, is maybe the same one that has been posting disparaging remarks about them on Facebook and other places. He has obviously had a bad experience with them.
The problem is that, if tutors cancel a lesson without good reason, they are ‘fined’ their fee for that lesson. This may seem harsh but it is made clear to you right from the start that this is the rule. If you are sick or have another valid reason for cancelling a lesson, as long as you can provide proof, e.g. a doctor’s certificate, then no problem.
I suppose it could be said that, as we are not contracted to them, this is wrong. However, looking at it from the company’s point of view, they had a problem with tutors cancelling lessons at the last minute and had to do something about it.
Anyway, as far as I’m concerned, it’s been a good experience for me. Both the staff and the students are great!
You won’t earn a fortune here and one of the reasons for that is that there are too many tutors. That is my only complaint!

eigox is a horrible english school for teachers which has some evil, sickening people that love to punish tutors. NOT RECOMMENDED

Haha, well can you give some specifics? Why are they evil?
