Educastream Review

Educastream is based in France, it looks like they want natives speakers from the UK to teach part-time. They teach children, adults and business English. They also teach math. They have some good reviews on the glassdoor website where they say they paid teachers between £9.10 – £10.80 per hour.

    • Hello John Paul,

10 USD for a full 60 minute session.

      The good:

Can't really be fired not unless you have a whole lot of no- shows (10-20 in a week or month). One worker in the home office is quite nice and reasonable.

The schedule is malleable and you can easily cancel! This is one of the main reasons why I haven't left yet. I work all over in different time zones (and have to either cancel to give more room to another client, personal business, need to sleep, life) and it's nice to have an employer that let's me cancel 12 hours to even 6 hours in advance. It's really tough finding that type of scheduling system and cancellation policy with a company that pays at standard (15USD).

      The bad:

The company's product and office culture has soured the last couple of months. They hired new HR and they really don't know how to communicate with foreign staff. If you decide to work there, just speak to Adam as he has the most experience talking to foreign tutors.

They expect you to stay in session even if the client doesn't show. You cannot cancel on a late client . If the client comes late, you still have to teach. They are sticklers to the session being 60 long. Yes. 60 mins long for 10 USD.

Their tech support used to stay in session to handle any issues that arose but now they enter and leave in 20 minutes. Some don't even enter your session at all during weekdays.

They do not always man the Skype account. Early morning or weekend sessions are not supported, so if they don't assign the sessions to you you're effed. If the audio doesn't work on either side when they're not there, you're effed.

Teacnical support is supposed to assign the sessions links to your account an hour before the class. Back in the day, there would be no problem, just click and enter. Now you have to wait for one of them to respond to your Skype message, to get the actual link to your class.

They may not mark your sessions to be paid. You have to check two weeks before they pay you if they made any mistakes. They have a tendency to take 5 mins off regardless of you working the full sixty minutes. Some techs do this, some techs don't. No need in arguing about it as they do set their sessions sometimes as 55 minutes...

Content is very, very, old. 7 years old and most aren't suited for the clients. The clients complain about this issue constantly and no, you cannot work in the content department to help the company update.

So, yeah overall it's good... for the schedule. You can make money there and they do correct any issues.

  • Been there for years. Super laid back for awhile. Now have new hires in HR that can be hard to communicate with.

But really really really flexible. The pay is terrible, but they are flexible like Gumby. Honest with pay.
    They need workers terribly.

    • Hey miss chicka,

I had my interview nearly two weeks ago and I have all the experience needed, however nobody has got back to me yet, I’ve sent emails but nobody has responded. Do you have an email for anyone that works there that could get back to me?

      Thank you

      Miss Adam
